Founded in Kilkenny in 1991, Barnstorm Theatre Company creates and presents high-standard, professional theatre for children and young people. It is also a resource organisation, using theatre & drama as a participative, personal development process for youth and local community groups, through its Youth Theatre, Adult Theatre Club and a community, schools and youth outreach programme.

Our Objectives

  • To sustain a professional, Kilkenny-based, theatre arts organisation, which draws from and serves diverse sections of our community;
  • To provide opportunities for adults and young people to make and receive theatre;
  • To explore new forms of theatre that will grow from, and respond to the needs and interests of specific sections of our community;
  • To develop professional theatre for young audiences by commissioning, producing and touring engaging plays;
  • To develop meaningful, collaborative and participative projects with sectors of our community, especially young people, through a variety of Outreach Projects.
